Podil is marked by historical footsteps of talent: artists, writers, scientists.
The oldest university is there, as well as churches, alleyways, and architecture, both pre-revolutionary and soviet.

The neighbourhood has a clear grid structure, that is not typical for the rest of Kyiv.

St. Andrew's Church — a landmark visible from everywhere — points the direction to the city center.

Being a flatland next to the river, for centuries Podil attracted blue-collar working people and traders, who took advantage of close proximity to the port. Nowadays, the craftsmen are gone, however the spirit is still there.
